MCP ChatGPT Quickstart

This guide provides a direct ChatGPT implementation path for Revspire MCP, with both OAuth modes :

  • Option A: Dynamic Client Registration (DCR)
  • Option B: User-defined OAuth Client (manual client_id/client_secret )

Before You Start

  • MCP Server URL: https://mcp.revspire.io/mcp
  • Important: ChatGPT App Builder currently does not support PKCE. If your Revspire OAuth connection is used by ChatGPT, disable PKCE for that connection.

Step 1: Create a New App in ChatGPT

  1. Create a new app in ChatGPT.
  2. Set MCP Server URL to https://mcp.revspire.io/mcp .
  3. Set Authentication = OAuth .
  4. Open Advanced OAuth settings .

Step 2: Choose OAuth Mode

Option A: DCR (Recommended when available)

  1. In Registration method , choose Dynamic Client Registration.
  2. Do not manually override Auth URL/Token URL unless discovery fails.
  3. ChatGPT will discover endpoints from Revspire metadata and register a client automatically.

Revspire discovery endpoints:

Protected Resource Metadata:

Authorization Server Metadata:
https://mcp.revspire.io/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server

Discovered Registration Endpoint:
https://login.api.revspire.io/oauth/register

Option B: User-Defined OAuth Client (Manual)

  1. In Revspire, go to Setup > OAuth .
  2. Select template: ChatGPT MCP Browser Flow (Production) .
  3. Save once and copy Client ID and Client Secret .
  4. In ChatGPT advanced OAuth settings, choose User-Defined OAuth Client .
  5. Paste Client ID and Client Secret .

Manual values:

Token endpoint auth method: client_secret_post
Auth URL: https://login.api.revspire.io/oauth/authorize
Token URL: https://login.api.revspire.io/oauth/token

Default scopes:
revspire.mcp.tools.read
revspire.mcp.tools.write

Base scopes:
openid
profile
email
offline_access

Step 3: Callback URL Setup (manual-client mode only)

If you selected User-Defined OAuth Client :

  1. Copy ChatGPT Callback URL .
  2. In Revspire OAuth connection, set it as Default Redirect URI and add it to Redirect URI Values .
  3. Save OAuth connection.

If you selected DCR , callback handling is part of discovery/registration and no manual Revspire redirect URI update is usually required.

Step 4: Validate MCP in ChatGPT

  1. Complete OAuth authorization.
  2. Run tools/list to verify tool catalog visibility.
  3. Run a read-only call (for example dealroom.list ) before write tools.

Troubleshooting

  • OAuth discovery failed: switch to User-Defined OAuth Client and use manual endpoint values above.
  • 401/403: verify scopes and token endpoint auth method.
  • No tools visible: confirm user permissions and product license mapping in Revspire.
  • 429: apply retry with backoff.
  • 504: reduce payload size or split operations.
