AI in sales enablement statistics: what the research says

AI in sales enablement statistics mostly measure adoption and perception, not accuracy or ROI. Gartner’s 2024 survey of 1,026 B2B sellers found those who partner effectively with AI were 3.7 times more likely to meet quota. No published study yet measures how often AI answers to sellers are grounded in approved content, or what AI role-play returns per hour.

ContextEvidence strength:Strong

How many sales teams use AI today?

Most sales organisations now use AI in some form. The stronger finding is about how well sellers use it: effective use is associated with quota attainment.

Best available evidence

  • Salesforce (n=5,500, 2024): 81% of sales teams are experimenting with AI (40%) or have fully implemented it (41%). Of teams with AI, 83% saw revenue growth, against 66% of teams without it.Salesforce, 2024 · Vendor survey · n=5,500 sales professionals in 27 countries, March 8-April 18, 2024
  • Gartner (n=1,026 B2B sellers, January–March 2024): sellers who partner effectively with AI were 3.7 times more likely to meet quota. Half of sellers felt overwhelmed by the amount of technology they need.Gartner, 2024 · Analyst survey · n=1,026 B2B sellers, surveyed January-March 2024
  • The Bridge Group (n=158 companies, 2026): in companies in the highest AI-engagement tercile, 57% of reps were at quota, against 39% in the lowest tercile. The Bridge Group, 2026 · Independent research-firm survey · n=158 B2B companies, data collected online Q1-Q2 2026
  • HBR Analytic Services, sponsored by Seismic (n=315, June 2025): nearly 60% of respondents say their organisation uses AI for at least one enablement task.Harvard Business Review Analytic Services, sponsored by Seismic, 2025 · Sponsored study · n=315 HBR audience members, surveyed June 2025

How to measure this in your team: Report the share of reps who used an AI feature weekly, and compare their attainment with non-users in the same segment.

Question 18Evidence strength:Weak

What do sales reps ask AI assistants most?

No reliable published benchmark exists as of October 2026.

No one has published an analysis of the questions sellers put to AI assistants. Surveys report the tasks sales teams use AI for, which is a different thing.

Proxy evidence

  • HubSpot’s 2024 State of AI survey (600+ sales professionals) lists data analysis (52%), generative AI for content or outreach (47%), and forecasting and lead scoring (36%) among AI uses.HubSpot, 2024 · Vendor survey · 600+ sales professionals; fielding dates not stated
  • In HBR Analytic Services’ 2025 study (sponsored by Seismic, n=315), the most common enablement uses of AI were content generation (37%), personalised buyer messaging (27%) and call analysis (23%).Harvard Business Review Analytic Services, sponsored by Seismic, 2025 · Sponsored study · n=315 HBR audience members, surveyed June 2025

How to measure this in your team: Classify assistant prompts by topic (product, competitor, pricing, objection, process). Report each topic’s share and the share answered without escalation.

Question 19Evidence strength:Weak

How often are AI answers to sellers grounded only in approved, current content?

No reliable published benchmark exists as of October 2026.

No sales-specific benchmark exists. The best proxy comes from legal research, where retrieval-grounded tools were tested against verified answers. Grounding reduced errors but did not remove them.

Proxy evidence

  • Researchers from Stanford and Yale found commercial retrieval-augmented legal research tools hallucinated between 17% and 33% of the time on their benchmark. That was fewer errors than general-purpose chatbots.Magesh, Surani, Dahl, Suzgun, Manning & Ho (Stanford/Yale), 2024 · Academic working paper · Benchmark queries run against Lexis+ AI, Westlaw AI-Assisted Research and Ask Practical Law AI

How to measure this in your team: Each week, sample AI answers given to sellers. Score the share where every claim traces to an approved, unexpired source.

Question 22Evidence strength:Weak

How much faster do reps answer buyer questions with an AI knowledge assistant?

No reliable published benchmark exists as of October 2026.

No controlled study of sellers exists. The strongest adjacent evidence is a large field study of customer-support agents using a generative AI assistant. It found the biggest gains for less experienced staff.

Proxy evidence

  • In NBER Working Paper 31161 (5,179 support agents), the AI assistant increased issues resolved per hour by about 14% on average, and by about 34% for novice and low-skilled agents.NBER (Brynjolfsson, Li & Raymond), 2023 · Academic working paper · 5,179 customer-support agents, staggered rollout of a generative AI assistant
  • Agents with two months’ tenure who used the tool performed as well as agents with six months’ tenure who did not.NBER Digest, 2023 · Academic working paper · Summary of NBER Working Paper 31161
  • Single-customer case study (GTM Buddy): Keelvar reports asset search time fell from about 7 minutes to under 2 minutes.GTM Buddy, n.d. · Single-customer case study · One customer; measurement period not stated

How to measure this in your team: Compare the median time from a buyer question to a rep’s answer (email or chat) before and after assistant rollout, using a holdout group.

Question 36Evidence strength:Weak

Which AI-generated playbook sections get edited or rejected most by human approvers?

No reliable published benchmark exists as of October 2026.

No vendor or analyst publishes AI-content governance data at section level. Surveys only show that organisations struggle to keep pace with AI adoption.

Proxy evidence

  • In Highspot’s 2026 survey (n=450 GTM leaders), 76% recognise that AI adoption is moving faster than their organisation can support.Highspot, 2026 · Vendor survey · n=450 GTM leaders in 6 countries

How to measure this in your team: For each playbook section type, log approver edit distance and rejection rate, then rank the sections.

Question 62Evidence strength:Weak

Does AI role-play produce measurable ROI per practice hour?

No reliable published benchmark exists as of October 2026.

No published study measures ROI per practice hour. Vendor surveys report perceived improvement and correlations, not return on time invested.

Proxy evidence

  • In Allego’s 2026 survey, fielded by TrendCandy (n=318), 84% of leaders said AI coaching tools, including AI role play, improved coaching quality.Allego (fielded by TrendCandy), 2026 · Vendor survey · n=318 revenue enablement leaders
  • In Highspot’s 2025 survey (n=350), teams with AI-powered coaching were 36% more likely to report higher win rates. This is a self-reported correlation.Highspot, 2025 · Vendor survey · n=350 GTM professionals, 21 countries

How to measure this in your team: Compare the change in win rate or ramp time per practice hour between reps who practise and matched reps who do not.

Question 65Evidence strength:Weak

Do AI scores agree with manager scores on the same call?

No reliable published benchmark exists as of October 2026.

No published study compares AI and manager scores on sales calls. Research elsewhere suggests the right yardstick: compare AI-manager agreement with manager-manager agreement, because human raters disagree a lot.

Proxy evidence

  • On open-ended chat benchmarks, strong LLM judges such as GPT-4 agreed with human preferences more than 80% of the time, the same level at which humans agree with each other.Zheng et al. (NeurIPS 2023 Datasets and Benchmarks), 2023 · Peer-reviewed academic study · MT-Bench expert votes and Chatbot Arena human preferences
  • In performance-rating research (two samples, n=2,350 and n=2,142 managers), idiosyncratic rater effects explained 62% and 53% of rating variance.Scullen, Mount & Goff, Journal of Applied Psychology 85(6), 2000 · Peer-reviewed academic study · Two samples of managers (n=2,350 and n=2,142), each rated by seven raters

How to measure this in your team: Have AI and two managers score the same sample of calls. Report AI-manager agreement next to manager-manager agreement, for example as weighted kappa.

Methodology

Each question comes from Revspire’s list of buyer questions that lack a data-backed public answer. For each one, we searched for published evidence in October 2026 and opened every source cited here. We preferred primary research from analysts, research firms, academic studies and large vendor datasets that state a sample size and method.

Every figure keeps its original wording, date and sample. Vendor numbers are labelled by evidence type (vendor survey, vendor platform data, sponsored study or single-customer case study). Case studies describe one company and are not benchmarks. Where we found nothing reliable, we say so and show proxy evidence from adjacent fields, clearly marked.

Revspire has not published benchmark data, and no figure on this page comes from Revspire customers or the Revspire platform.

How evidence strength is graded

Strong
Independent or peer-reviewed research with a disclosed method that answers the question directly.
Moderate
Disclosed-method analyst, research-firm or large vendor dataset that answers the question directly but has limits (vendor-run, self-reported, or partial scope).
Weak
Indirect proxy, undisclosed sample, single-customer case study, or a figure more than ten years old.
None
No published evidence found.

Frequently asked questions

Does AI help sellers hit quota?

Gartner’s 2024 survey of 1,026 B2B sellers found those who partner effectively with AI were 3.7 times more likely to meet quota. It is a survey association, not proof that AI caused the difference.

How accurate are AI answers for sales teams?

No sales-specific accuracy benchmark is published. In legal research, retrieval-grounded tools still hallucinated 17–33% of the time on a Stanford/Yale benchmark. Teams should audit grounding themselves.

Is AI role-play worth the time?

Evidence so far is perception data: 84% of leaders in Allego’s 2026 survey say AI coaching improved coaching quality. No published study measures ROI per practice hour.

Revspire’s AI Playbook Engine drafts content from approved revenue knowledge and routes it for approval. AI Sales Training & Coaching scores role-plays. Both record the edits and scores these questions need.
