This is original Revspire data: At least 10 customer organizations behind each figure, new reps' start dates, AI role-plays, certifications, first qualified meetings and first closed-won deals, 12 months to October 2026. The figures are aggregated and anonymized, and they describe patterns in Revspire customer data rather than proving cause and effect.
What is the average ramp time for AEs and SDRs?
Measured from the start date, the median enterprise account executive closed a first won deal after 120 days, about four months, and the median mid-market AE after 75 days, about two and a half months. SDRs are measured differently because they do not usually close deals: their job is to create qualified meetings for AEs, so SDR ramp here is the time to a first qualified meeting, a median of 35 days. All three are first-result milestones, not full productivity, so they are not directly comparable with survey figures for months to full quota (see the published research on our onboarding and ramp statistics page).
| Role | Ramp milestone | Median days |
|---|---|---|
| Enterprise AE | First closed-won deal | 120 days |
| Mid-market AE | First closed-won deal | 75 days |
| SDR | First qualified meeting | 35 days |
- Enterprise AE: first closed-won deal120 days
- Mid-market AE: first closed-won deal75 days
- SDR: first qualified meeting35 days

- Days are counted from the rep's start date.
- Account executives are measured to their first closed-won deal; SDRs to their first qualified meeting, the result their role is measured on.
Do reps who practise with AI role-play ramp faster?
Reps who completed AI role-plays in their first 30 days ramped in 68 days, against 92 days for reps who did not: 24 days, or about 26% shorter. Early practice means a rep has rehearsed discovery, objections and the pitch before meeting real buyers, which fits the gap. Other explanations fit it too. Reps who complete practice early may be more motivated, and teams that assign practice in the first weeks may onboard more carefully in other ways. Treat the gap as an association to test with your own hiring cohorts, not as a promised saving.
- Completed AI role-plays in the first 30 days68 days
- Did not complete AI role-plays in the first 30 days92 days
Source: Revspire customer data, 12 months to October 2026.
- Difference = 92 − 68 = 24 days; 24 ÷ 92 ≈ 26% shorter.
- Ramp days are counted from the rep's start date. This comparison is not split by role in this edition.
How long does it take to certify reps after a product launch?
After a product launch, it took a median of 21 days, three weeks, for 80% of reps to be certified on it. That is a useful planning number for launch readiness. If certification starts on launch day, expect about three weeks before most of the team is certified to pitch the new product, and set early pipeline targets for it with that in mind. Teams that want most sellers ready on launch day need to run certification before the launch, on pre-release material.
| Measure | Median |
|---|---|
| Days from a product launch until 80% of reps were certified on it | 21 days |
- Certified = passed the certification set for that launch.
How to use this benchmark
- Benchmark each role against its own milestone: the first closed-won deal for AEs and the first qualified meeting for SDRs. Mixing them makes SDR ramp look short and AE ramp look slow.
- Use 120 days for enterprise AEs and 75 days for mid-market AEs as a first-deal checkpoint. A new AE well past it with no closed-won deal is worth a pipeline and deal review.
- Put AI role-play into the first 30 days of onboarding, then compare ramp for cohorts with and without it at the same hiring bar. The gap in this data was 24 days.
- Start launch certification before launch day. A median of 21 days to reach 80% certified means a launch-day start leaves about three weeks before most of the team is ready.
Method and sample
- Organizations
- At least 10 customer organizations behind each figure
- Records
- New reps' start dates, AI role-plays, certifications, first qualified meetings and first closed-won deals
- Period
- 12 months to October 2026
The figures come from aggregated, anonymized Revspire customer data covering the 12 months before Revspire supplied them in October 2026: new reps' start dates, AI role-plays and certifications completed in Revspire, and first qualified meetings and first closed-won deals.
Each figure is based on at least 10 organizations. No figure identifies a customer, a rep or a deal. Customer contracts allow aggregated, anonymized benchmarks.
Ramp is measured in days from the rep's start date: to the first closed-won deal for account executives, and to the first qualified meeting for SDRs.
These are observed correlations in Revspire customer data, not a random sample of all sales teams, and they do not show that any product caused a result.
Limitations
- Every comparison here is a correlation. Reps who complete AI role-plays early may be more motivated or better supported than reps who do not (a selection effect), so the 24-day gap is not the effect of role-play alone.
- A first closed-won deal and a first qualified meeting are early milestones, not full productivity or quota attainment.
- The role-play comparison is not reported by role, and sample sizes are not reported in this edition.
- Customers of a sales enablement platform may onboard and certify reps more systematically than the wider market.
Frequently asked questions
What is the average sales ramp time?
In Revspire customer data, the median enterprise AE closed a first won deal 120 days after starting and the median mid-market AE after 75 days. SDRs booked a first qualified meeting after a median of 35 days.
How long does it take a new AE to ramp?
A median of 120 days to a first closed-won deal for enterprise AEs and 75 days for mid-market AEs. Reaching full quota takes longer; survey figures for full productivity are on our onboarding and ramp statistics page.
What is a typical SDR ramp time?
A median of 35 days from start date to a first qualified meeting. SDRs are measured on qualified meetings because they create opportunities for AEs rather than closing deals themselves.
Does AI role-play shorten ramp time?
Reps who completed AI role-plays in their first 30 days ramped in 68 days, against 92 for reps who did not, about 26% shorter. It is a correlation: reps who practise early may differ in other ways.
How long does launch certification take?
A median of 21 days from a product launch until 80% of reps were certified on it.
