9 Best Customer Success Software in 2026
A practical perspective for connecting this idea to your revenue team’s next move.
Customer success software helps post-sale teams keep and grow accounts: it pulls CRM, product-usage, support and conversation data into health scores, flags renewal and churn risk, and runs playbooks, journeys and tasks for CSMs. The best customer success software in 2026 includes Gainsight, ChurnZero, Planhat, Vitally, ClientSuccess, Custify, Odie (formerly Totango), Staircase AI and HubSpot Service Hub.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Disclosure: Revspire publishes this list and does not sell a customer success tool, so it is not included. Tools are grouped by type, with each vendor’s own published information checked on 20 October 2026. Within each group they are listed alphabetically; the order is not a ranking.
What is customer success software?
A customer success platform (CS platform) is the system of record for the post-sale relationship. It joins data the CRM does not hold, such as product usage, support tickets and survey answers, to each account, then shows CSMs which customers need attention and what to do next. It typically covers:
- Customer 360: contract, usage, tickets, contacts and notes in one view.
- Health scores: weighted measures that rate each account over time.
- Renewal and churn risk: renewal dates, forecasts and risk alerts.
- Playbooks and tasks: steps that fire when a score drops or a stage changes.
- Journeys and digital CS: emails, in-app messages and surveys at scale.
- Expansion signals: cues that an account may buy more; our customer expansion strategy guide turns them into plays.
Customer onboarding software runs the first weeks after signature (project plans, portals, go-live); a customer success platform runs the relationship through renewal. Several tools below include onboarding features, but our list of the best customer onboarding software compares tools built for that phase.
How to choose customer success software
- Data in: native connectors for your CRM, billing, product analytics, support desk and warehouse.
- Health score design: weights you control, history over time, and scores per segment.
- Renewal workflow: renewal forecasting, risk alerts, and who gets the task.
- Scaled CS: journeys, in-app messages and surveys triggered by health or stage.
- AI: which agents exist, what data they read, and whether AI is a flat fee or credits.
- Seats: full users versus viewer seats, and any cap on customers per user.
- Data handling: these tools read emails, calls and usage about named people, so check each vendor’s security and data-processing terms against your own obligations.

Dedicated customer success platforms
These six are built around the CSM’s book of business. All six name Salesforce and HubSpot integrations.
ChurnZero
ChurnZero calls its product AI-powered customer success software and a customer growth platform (ChurnZero).
- Standout capabilities: ChurnScore and Relationship Score health; customer journeys; plays; in-app communications; renewal forecasting; NPS, CES and CSAT surveys (ChurnZero customer success software). AI includes the Ask Kit assistant, agents for signals, enrichment and workflow (including three Handoff Agents) and ChurnZero Connect (MCP) for Claude and ChatGPT (Customer Success AI). CRMs named on its homepage include Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Pipedrive.
- Pricing: no prices or pricing link on its homepage or customer success software page, which point buyers to a demo (checked 20 October 2026).
- Limitation: AI agents come through one annual subscription of flat-rate tiers plus pre-purchased AI credits; its June 2026 Agentic Essentials release says that package is for Professional and Enterprise editions.
- Choose it if: you run a digital-first motion with in-app messaging and want AI agents inside the CS platform.
ClientSuccess
ClientSuccess positions itself as simple, powerful customer success software (ClientSuccess).
- Standout capabilities: SuccessScore customer health; Pulse reporting; an NPS Analyzer; renewal management; lifecycle stage automations; branded customer portals; Meeting Intelligence; an MCP server. CRMs named: Salesforce, HubSpot and Dynamics.
- Pricing: not published. Startup (up to 10 full licenses and 500 customers), Growth (up to 50 and 5,000) and Enterprise (unlimited) are scoped by team size, contract length and integrations; annual contracts are typically 15-20% below month-to-month rates; no setup fees (ClientSuccess pricing, checked 20 October 2026).
- Limitation: it does not offer a self-serve free trial; it offers a demo and a proof of concept on your data.
- Choose it if: a smaller CS team wants health, renewals and portals without a long implementation.
Custify
Custify describes itself as an AI-first customer success platform built around churn risk, renewals and AI agents (Custify).
- Standout capabilities: Customer 360; health scores; upsell signals; automated workflows and playbooks; churn alerts; CSAT and NPS surveys; a customer portal; CustifyAI for churn-risk analysis, sentiment trends and playbook generation; four-week Concierge Onboarding.
- Pricing: no amounts appeared in the text of its pricing page, which routes to a demo; its FAQ says there are no setup fees (Custify pricing, checked 20 October 2026).
- Limitation: its homepage names HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho CRM, Zendesk Sell, Intercom, Pipedrive, Close and Freshworks CRM, plus 200+ tools through Zapier; Microsoft Dynamics is not among them or on its integrations list (onboarding can add integrations).
- Choose it if: a SaaS or subscription business wants health scores and automation with guided setup.
Gainsight CS
Gainsight pitches Gainsight CS as “Customer Success built for AI, designed for retention” (Gainsight CS, modified 22 September 2026).
- Standout capabilities: Customer 360 and health scorecards; pre-built risk, handoff and expansion agents; AI-orchestrated journeys mixing email, in-app guides and surveys; renewal likelihood and expansion signals; AI-generated success plans; Gainsight MCP and Agent Studio. Connector docs updated September 2026 cover Microsoft Dynamics, HubSpot and a Salesforce real-time sync; its integrations page lists Pipedrive.
- Pricing: Essentials and Enterprise, both “Request Pricing”. Essentials includes 10 full users and 100 customers per user, Enterprise 20 full users and 200 customers per user, both with unlimited viewer licenses (Gainsight pricing, checked 20 October 2026).
- Limitation: Renewal and Expansion Forecasting and Organizational Mapping & Sponsor Tracking are listed in Enterprise only.
- Choose it if: a large CS organisation runs high-touch and digital programmes and wants one vendor that also sells Product Experience, Customer Communities and Skilljar training.
Planhat
Planhat calls Planhat OS “the agentic customer platform built for commercial teams” and sells CRM, customer success (CSP) and professional services (PSA) products on it (Planhat).
- Standout capabilities: Health Management with health scores stored as time series; Renewal Management; expansion tracking; customer Portals; scaled CS and automations; AI Workflows and an MCP server (Pi for Customer Success). Integrations include Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zendesk, Pendo, Segment, Snowflake and Gong (Planhat integrations).

- Limitation: the Upgraded AI Platform, Advanced Portals, Advanced Service and Email Marketing are listed as add-ons.

Vitally

- Standout capabilities: dynamic health scores by lifecycle stage or segment; automation for CSM assignment and tasks; project management for customer milestones; collaborative docs; surveys; AI summaries and agentic actions; an MCP server. Integrations include Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, Zendesk, Segment and Snowflake (Vitally integrations).
- Pricing: Tech-Touch, Hybrid-Touch and High-Touch, each “Request Pricing”; all include core features, unlimited automations, unlimited observer seats and SSO (Vitally pricing, checked 20 October 2026).
- Limitation: only High-Touch is labelled with unlimited full seats, so ask how full seats are counted on the other plans.
- Choose it if: you want plans matched to your coverage model and CSMs who share docs and projects with customers.
AI customer intelligence for post-sales teams
These two build a picture of each customer from conversations, notes and records rather than starting from a health-score workflow.
Odie (formerly Totango)
Totango’s homepage now reads “Totango is now Odie” (Totango). Customer Experience Dive reported on 5 March 2024 that Totango and Catalyst had closed a deal to merge, backed by Great Hill Partners. A CEO letter dated 10 September 2026 announced that Totango has become Odie and told legacy Totango and Catalyst customers that “nothing about your account changes today” (Odie announcement).
- Standout capabilities: a Customer Knowledge Engine that keeps “living customer narratives” from CRM, usage, email, call and meeting data; an optional Customer Operating System with daily account evaluation, predictive renewal-risk models, campaign automation and post-sales agents; MCP access. Integrations named: Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Slack, Outlook and Gmail (Odie).
- Pricing: the Customer Knowledge Engine starts at $500 / month and the Customer Operating System at $1,500 / month; terms start at one year, with no seat-based pricing (Odie pricing, checked 20 October 2026).
- Limitation: the letter does not say how long the legacy Totango and Catalyst platforms will continue.
- Choose it if: you want customer knowledge your own AI agents can query, priced by the knowledge graphs it maintains rather than by seat.
Staircase AI by Gainsight
Gainsight announced a definitive agreement to acquire Staircase AI on 8 August 2024 and said companies that are not Gainsight customers could buy it (Gainsight press release). It is now sold as a customer intelligence platform (Staircase AI, modified 22 September 2026).
- Standout capabilities: automatic logging of emails, meetings and support tickets; Risk Analyst and Expansion Analyst; a New Account Handoff dashboard; Slack alerts; MCP connectivity.
- Pricing: not shown on its product page; Gainsight’s main pricing page lists no Staircase AI amounts (checked 20 October 2026).
- Limitation: its page describes risk, expansion and handoff insight; health scorecards, playbooks and digital journeys are listed as Gainsight CS features.
- Choose it if: relationship and sentiment risk hide in email threads and meetings rather than in product usage.
Customer success inside your CRM
HubSpot Service Hub (Customer Success Management)
HubSpot sells Customer Success Management in Service Hub, worked from the customer success workspace, as a premium feature of the Professional and Enterprise tiers (HubSpot Customer Success Management).
- Standout capabilities: health scores with alerts and trends; renewal pipeline tracking; expansion identification; product usage and ticket metrics; tasks due today or overdue; custom views and up to five reports (HubSpot knowledge base, updated 19 March 2026).
- Pricing: Service Hub Professional starts at $90/mo/seat billed annually ($100/mo/seat billed monthly), plus a required one-time $1,500 onboarding fee; Enterprise starts at $150/mo/seat plus a required one-time $3,500 onboarding fee. Health Scores are listed at 50 scores in both tiers (Service Hub pricing, checked 20 October 2026).
- Limitation: the workspace requires Professional or Enterprise and seats; score profiles and score distribution reports are Enterprise features.
- Choose it if: sales, service and CS already live in HubSpot.
How do you build a customer health score?
Every tool above lets you weight your own measures. Start with four you already collect. An illustration, not a vendor default:
Measure
Weight
Account A
Points
Usage (share of licensed users active in 30 days)
40%
60% active = 60
24
Support (open high-priority tickets)
25%
Two open = 50
12.5
Engagement (sponsor meeting in 90 days)
20%
None = 0
0
Sentiment (latest NPS response)
15%
8 = 70
10.5
Health score
100%
47
With red set below 50, Account A triggers a risk playbook: book a sponsor meeting, review the tickets, confirm the renewal date. To test the weights, score last year’s churned and renewed accounts as they stood 90 days before renewal; if churned accounts were not mostly red, change the measures before trusting the alerts. Our guide to renewal management covers the process the score should feed.
What should the sales-to-CS handoff pass on?
A new customer has no health history, so the handoff decides how well a CSM starts. Gainsight CS lists a handoff agent, ChurnZero three Handoff Agents, and Staircase AI a New Account Handoff dashboard. Whatever the tool, pass on:
- The success criteria and use cases the buyer agreed to.
- The buying committee: sponsor, champion, users and anyone who objected.
- Promises made in the sale: timelines, integrations, discounts.
- Contract dates, renewal terms and what was out of scope.
Our sales-to-customer-success handoff tips go further. If the deal ran in a Revspire Digital Sales Room, the CSM can start from the room’s mutual action plan, stakeholder map and buyer engagement analytics, and keep sharing the same approved content after signature. To see how it works, book a Revspire demo.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best customer success software?
It depends on scale and CRM. Large CS organisations usually compare Gainsight CS with ChurnZero, HubSpot customers can start with Service Hub’s customer success workspace, and smaller teams can test ClientSuccess, Custify or Vitally. Ask for a proof of concept or sandbox on your own data before deciding.
How much does customer success software cost?
Two vendors showed prices on 20 October 2026: Odie starts at $500 a month (Knowledge Engine) or $1,500 a month (Operating System) on terms of a year or more, and HubSpot Service Hub Professional starts at $90/mo/seat billed annually ($100/mo/seat billed monthly), Enterprise at $150/mo/seat. Gainsight, ClientSuccess, Planhat and Vitally quote prices; ChurnZero, Custify and Staircase AI showed no amounts on the pages we opened.
What is a customer health score?
A customer health score combines weighted measures, such as product usage, support tickets, engagement and survey sentiment, into one rating per account. CS teams use it to spot renewal risk early and trigger playbooks. Test it against accounts that churned before relying on it.
Is a customer success platform the same as a CRM?
No. A CRM records contacts, deals and activities; a customer success platform adds usage, support and survey data, health scores and renewal playbooks for the post-sale team. Most CS platforms sync with the CRM, and HubSpot builds customer success into its CRM through Service Hub.
What happened to Totango and Catalyst?
Totango and Catalyst closed a deal to merge in early 2024, as Customer Experience Dive reported on 5 March 2024. On 10 September 2026 Totango announced that it has become Odie, a customer intelligence engine for post-sales teams, and told legacy Totango and Catalyst customers that their contracts, pricing and product are unchanged for now.
Does HubSpot have customer success software?
Yes. HubSpot offers Customer Success Management in Service Hub Professional and Enterprise, worked from a customer success workspace with health scores, alerts, tasks and renewal tracking. HubSpot says it is exclusive to those two tiers.
How we checked these tools
We opened each vendor’s product and pricing pages on 20 October 2026 and used only what they publish; we did not test products. Prices not shown in a page’s text are reported as not shown. No review ratings, customer counts or vendor outcome claims are used. Catalyst is covered under Odie because the companies merged.
