Does Gainsight publish its pricing?
Gainsight pricing is quote-based: its pricing page lists editions for four products but no prices, and in October 2026 Gainsight preannounced value-based CS pricing that scales with ARR and customers managed. Vendr's February 2026 median is $49,500 a year (379 purchases).
No. Gainsight's pricing page, titled "Gainsight Pricing", showed no prices, currency or billing unit when we checked on 21 October 2026. It lists editions for four products, Customer Success, Skilljar by Gainsight, Product Experience and Customer Communities, and says what each includes. Customer Success and Product Experience end in a "Request Pricing" button; Skilljar and Customer Communities link to "Learn More" instead. The feature grid carries the footnote "Not inclusive of all features".
The page states no minimum seats, contract length or add-on prices, and Vendr says "Gainsight does not publish transparent list pricing on its website." Two parts of Gainsight's range are not on the pricing page at all: Staircase AI, which its homepage describes as a way to "Turn every signal into scored risk and the right action", and the Atlas AI-native renewal services. Gainsight publishes no price for either.
Gainsight CS editions: what Essentials and Enterprise include
Customer Success, sold as Gainsight CS, is the product most buyers mean by "Gainsight". The pricing page offers two editions. Essentials is "For growing businesses and Customer Success organizations looking to start fast"; Enterprise, labelled "Most Powerful", is "The full power of the industry’s leading CS platform", in Gainsight's words. Unlike Gainsight's other products, the CS editions state how many users and customers are included:
| What the pricing page lists | Essentials | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| Included full users | 10 | 20 |
| Included customers per user | 100 | 200 |
| Viewer licences | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| AI Insights and Automations | Included | Included |
| Customer 360, Playbooks & Success Plans, Dashboards | Yes | Yes |
| Health Scorecards, Surveys, Digital Journeys | Yes | Yes |
| Company News | Not listed | Yes |
| Renewal and Expansion Forecasting | Not listed | Yes |
| Organizational Mapping & Sponsor Tracking | Not listed | Yes |
A CS quote therefore starts from full users and the number of customers each user covers, while colleagues who only need to look get viewer licences without limit. The page does not say what an extra full user or extra customer capacity costs, or whether the customers-per-user allowance is shared across the team, so ask both. Vendr describes the same product, which it calls CS Cloud, as priced on the number of customer records managed, meaning the companies you serve rather than end users.
Gainsight's homepage also lists Gainsight Essentials, "Essential features and onboarding to help you start and scale with Gainsight in as little as two weeks", and a separate Gainsight CS for SAP Sales Cloud. The pricing page does not say whether that onboarding is priced separately from the Essentials edition.
Skilljar, Customer Communities and PX: what each edition includes
Gainsight's other three products are packaged differently. Skilljar, the customer education product Gainsight acquired in April 2025, and Customer Communities each come in three editions sized by Academy sites or admin seats rather than users. Product Experience (PX) is a single package, and the only product on the pricing page with a "Free Trial" button; the page states no trial length or limits.
| Product and edition | What the pricing page lists | Button on the pricing page |
|---|---|---|
| Skilljar Essentials | 1 Academy site, unlimited seats and courses, standard integrations | Learn More |
| Skilljar Professional | Everything in Essentials plus 2 Academy sites, premium integrations and features, single sign-on (SSO) for admins | Learn More |
| Skilljar Enterprise | Everything in Professional plus 3 Academy sites, more premium integrations, a sandbox organization | Learn More |
| Customer Communities Professional | 3 admin seats, basic product suite, self-service support | Learn More |
| Customer Communities Business | Everything in Professional plus 5 admin seats, all Customer Communities products, CSM support | Learn More |
| Customer Communities Enterprise | Everything in Business plus 10 admin seats, advanced or custom integrations, enterprise CSM support | Learn More |
| Product Experience (PX) | Product analytics, in-app guides and engagements, In-App Hub (formerly KC Bot), user surveys and feedback, support for web, mobile and desktop | Request Pricing; Free Trial |
Every Skilljar edition offers "Unlimited Seats & Courses", so learner numbers are not the meter Gainsight shows; Academy sites, integrations and admin SSO are what change between editions. Customer Communities steps up by admin seats, product access and support level. Gainsight's pricing page links Skilljar to a pricing page of its own, which this guide does not cover, so confirm Skilljar prices there or with sales.
For PX, Vendr says "Pricing is based on monthly active users (MAUs) tracked in your product, not customer records." Gainsight's own pricing page does not mention that meter, so ask how active users are counted before you sign.
Where do Staircase AI, Atlas and AI agents fit?
Both CS editions include "AI Insights, Automations", but Gainsight's newer AI products sit outside the pricing grid. Its homepage frames the approach as "Agentic AI, your way" and "Buy the foundation. Build your advantage. Hand off the rest.": ready-made apps and agents, your own agents and workflows built in Agent Studio, which Gainsight calls "an agentic workspace inside Gainsight CS", and Gainsight experts and agents running renewals for you. The homepage also lists an MCP Library and Staircase AI, which Gainsight acquired in August 2024.
Atlas is the hand-off option, "The first AI-native renewal services for customer retention", under the line "Our agents do the work. Our people own the outcome." Gainsight calls it "a new path for companies that want Gainsight to own the retention outcome completely", with AI agents and renewal specialists covering the long-tail accounts a CS team cannot reach. The Atlas page gives no price; its buttons offer a demo.
In a release datelined 20 October 2026, Gainsight says Atlas has "more than $75M of customer ARR under management in long-tail renewals" and that "customers who hire work with Atlas, where contracts are tied to results." It does not say how results are measured or what share of the outcome Gainsight charges, so Atlas needs its own quote and contract terms.
Is Gainsight moving away from per-seat pricing?
Gainsight says so. The same October 2026 release describes value-based pricing for Gainsight CS, "available next year", that "shifts customers from per-seat licensing to value-based pricing that scales with ARR" and the number of customers managed through Gainsight, "with Staircase AI included and no charge for Model Context Protocol (MCP) access." The release gives no rates, no share of ARR and no start date beyond next year, and the pricing page still sized the CS editions by full users and customers per user on 21 October 2026.
If your contract starts or renews around the change, ask which model your quote uses, how ARR is measured (your company's total ARR, or only the ARR of the accounts managed in Gainsight), how the price moves if ARR grows or shrinks, and whether Staircase AI and MCP access are included under today's per-seat editions too.
Who owns Gainsight, and what has it acquired?
On 30 November 2020 Gainsight announced that it "has signed an agreement to receive a majority investment from Vista Equity Partners". The release gives no amount, valuation or closing date, and no later Gainsight page we checked restates the ownership.
Gainsight's newsroom shows how the range grew. Gainsight acquired Staircase AI (announced 8 August 2024) and Skilljar (2 April 2025), completed two acquisitions for Customer Communities on 30 April 2025 and announced a new EU datacenter on 15 July 2025. Founder Nick Mehta named Chuck Ganapathi as CEO on 20 August 2025. Its 2026 releases cover opening the platform with MCP (2 April), a new AI-native services business (27 May), the Agentic Stack for Customer Retention (28 May) and customer context for Agentforce (15 September). Gainsight also says it was named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Customer Success Management Platforms.
How much does Gainsight cost per year?
Vendr reports a median Gainsight contract of $49,500 a year from 379 purchases (last updated February 2026), with a low of $13,525 and a high of $182,022. The page header labels the same $49,500 "Avg Contract Value" and shows 213 deals handled rather than 379, without explaining the gap, so treat the figures as directional. They are Vendr estimates from purchase data, not Gainsight prices.
Vendr says "Gainsight uses a tiered, volume-based pricing model", with CS Cloud priced on customer records and PX on monthly active users. It estimates that CS Cloud is "Often quoted in the range of $50,000–$150,000+ annually for mid-market deployments", that mid-market PX quotes often run $30,000 to $80,000+ a year, and that "Combined CS Cloud + PX packages typically start above $100,000 annually". Gainsight's own pages give none of these figures, so ask for each product as a separate line before you compare a quote with Vendr's ranges.
What drives the cost of a Gainsight contract?
Gainsight's pricing page and October 2026 release name the inputs to a quote; the meters and contract terms credited to Vendr are its observations, not Gainsight terms:
- Products. CS, Skilljar, Customer Communities and PX are packaged separately on the pricing page, and Staircase AI and Atlas are not on it, so each product you add is another line to price.
- Edition. CS Enterprise adds Company News, Renewal and Expansion Forecasting, and Organizational Mapping & Sponsor Tracking over Essentials; Skilljar and Communities editions step up by Academy sites, admin seats, integrations and support.
- Full users and customers. CS Essentials includes 10 full users and 100 customers per user, Enterprise 20 and 200, with unlimited viewer licences in both. Vendr says CS Cloud is priced on the number of customer records.
- Product usage. Vendr says PX is priced on monthly active users tracked in your product.
- Value-based pricing. Gainsight says CS pricing that scales with ARR is "available next year", with Staircase AI included and no charge for MCP access; it has published no rates.
- Atlas services. Atlas contracts are "tied to results", Gainsight says, and it publishes no Atlas price.
- Term and renewals. Vendr reports that multi-year contracts of 2 to 3 years typically unlock 15–30% discounts and that contracts typically include annual price escalation clauses of often 5–8% a year. Gainsight's pages state no contract length.
What should you ask Gainsight before signing?
- Which products and editions does the quote cover, and what does each cost as a separate line, including Staircase AI, Agent Studio and any Atlas services?
- How many full users and customers per user are included, what does each extra full user or block of customers cost, and is the customers-per-user allowance shared across the team?
- Will your contract use per-seat licensing or the value-based pricing Gainsight says is "available next year", how is ARR measured, and what happens to the price if ARR grows or shrinks?
- Are Staircase AI and MCP access included in the edition you are buying today, or only under value-based pricing?
- For PX, how are monthly active users counted, and what happens if usage runs above the contracted level?
- What are the contract length, renewal terms and annual price escalation? Vendr reports escalation clauses of often 5–8% a year, so ask for a renewal cap in writing.
